Objectives

The topic “dual career” has been dealt with politically at various occasions such as in the EU White Paper on Sport 2007, or during the German EU Presidency 2007 and more recently the European Council of December 2008, when he called for the strengthening of the dialogue with the Olympic movement and representatives of the world of sport, in particular on the question of combined sports training and education for young people.
How to create an enabling environment/ framework for “dual career”? The project A2B wants to answer this question by pursuing in particular the following objectives:
- Promote the concept of dual career in Europe with the project’s target groups athletes, sport organisations, universities and businesses
- Identify good practices of sport organisations, universities, career programmes and businesses providing an enabling environment for dual career
- Provide guidelines for dual career to the project’s target groups by specifying an enabling environment
- Identify and remove barriers that prevent athletes from engaging with education in particular at tertiary level
- Provide a starting point for a network offering know-how on the concept and implementation of dual career and support to interested parties
