Athletes
Athletes bear great responsibility with regards to the pursuance of a dual career. They shall be enabled to make informed choices of relevant services offered to them. In addition, athletes possess valuable soft skills gained during their sporting career. Athletes have to capitalise on their sport skills and try to promote themselves in the most effective way on the labour market. Theoretically, athletes are in a favourable situation, because they already have proven to possess several personal and social skills that employers are looking for: perseverance, being reliable and hard-working. All these skills are prerequisites for being successful in sport and are transferred to other parts of life (this skill transfer is the basis of promoting quality PE in schools and resulted in recognizing the notion “education through sport”).
What can be done for athletes do create an enabling environment for dual career?
